Riding the Broom

People say I'm a hipster for wanting a bike. To that I say you are right. Fuck it. I embrace my hipster styling. I heard a quote recently that was something to the effect of "You say Liberal like it's a stigma or something to be ashamed of. I disagree. I pick up that label and wear it as a badge of honor." Maybe not that dramatic, but I am living more and more like that. I don't care what labels I get pressed to my chest. Life's too short. What I get tired of, is how people take such a schadenfreude approach to it. I feel like I'm pompous enough to say that I seldom indulge in that phenomenon.

I make sure all is well before I laugh.

I'd like to write more, but time is short right now. I'll get back to y'all in some time.

Much love.

Monkey Bites

So in an attempt to keep my mind active, I am reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy and it is emotional. I feel that while lately I've been doing well in my personal life, my resting mind and creative mind have felt rather uneasy. I've been at unrest. I've had nightmares the past few nights, and struggled to fall asleep with fears of intruders in the night. Robbery. Even fires. I don't know why anxieties that plagued my childhood are resurfacing. Perhaps the changes and calm in my life have unlocked some sort of defense mechanism to keep me from "letting my guard down". Maybe I'm having a period of heightened anxiety due to a feeling of displacement.

Whatever the manifestation of my uneasy feelings, I intend to try and relax and channel my mind into art. Perhaps I will create something based on my fears in order to overcome it. Who knows?

A man in debt fears the dark more.

I fear no dark, I fear what lurks there to take the most important things to me in this living world. I fear for my safety based on these prowlers.

Starting to formulate some monologue for my main character to feel, think, and take on. We'll see what occurs.

Until then, please send me some happier vibes. I cannot be a creative beacon at the hours I intend to rest. I must remember that the idea behind this process is to feel a little more satisfied and gratified in my efforts not go mad. Bwahahahahaha!

My Hand Hurts from Cat Bites

So, the past few days I've been floundering on ideas of where a good place to start could be. I've decided, pretty assuredly so, that the focus of my title is going to be a male. Maybe a small step, but it's important. I toyed with the idea of making it female, but I don't think the voice will allow. Although thinking now, that could make things interesting. Who the hell knows?

Next, I think I want this setting to be back East. There is something that makes sense about the forbidding cold of the East Coast, coupled with the amazing scenery (most of which I find to be seafront) ought to offer me some poignant moments.

SO maybe these "revelations" are not really a shock to you all, the people I'm aware of that are reading this know me somewhat well, but I feel like it will help me to sort of look back and remember what I was going after should I need help refocusing. Maybe not, and this will just hang me. I feel like I'm making this more laborious than it needs to be. Then again, most things that I do creatively are laborious and often ponderous. I'm not a doctor.

I need to also get in touch with some fine literature. I think on the advent of this new work I'm hopefully coming into, I can invest in some classics and important past works in an effort to acclimate myself to works of fiction that are worth a damn and see what style(s) I can identify with. I need your help again, dear readers. What ought I read? I'd prefer fairly established and recognized works. Things considered "Great". I've really not read much so any suggestions would be amazing.

Well, that's all I have for now. I have things to do, and ideas to ponder further. Just sorta floating in the lagoon as it were. Feel free to float with me.

The Reason For Being

So everyone seems to blog, and with that comes the reasons why. I suppose my isn't incredibly unique, but I feel it could be exciting if I had enough support. Or not, I don't really care.

I'm am taking an intermediate fiction class this semester at ASU, somewhat against my will. You see, I am a poetry writer and fiction, well... it's not my forte. I am, however, somewhat excited to dust off the cobwebs of this challenge yet again and actually produce something worth while. I have been tossing around ideas and concepts constantly and now, I think I'm going to attempt to produce something interesting.

I don't really want to delve into what exactly the story is going to be, just because I haven't really fully decided. I'm a good writer like that.

Basically, dear readers, what I need from you are some ways to help me progress my ideas and help develop my story. Anything that you can tell me about

- Transhumanism
- dysotopia
- Technology theories and conspiracy (eg the Panopticon)

And any other related ideas, concepts, works of writing, imagery, and even music would be great. I'll post small ideas and other things that I'll need from you, my readers.

I'm going to try and post regularly to keep my mind working. Hopefully some of you will join me for the process.
